PLANKENHORN, GEORGE H.
Age 66, of Little Egg Harbor Twp., passed away, Monday, October 8, at home.
Born in Camden, he has lived in Little Egg Harbor Twp., since 1982.
George attended Temple University and, upon graduation, received a commission in the Army.
While on active duty, he served in Europe and Vietnam, as well as stateside. Upon completion of his
active duty tour, he served in the Army Reserve for over twenty years. Most of his reserve service was
with the 78th Division in which he served as battalion and brigade commander, retiring as the Division
Chief of Staff. He also was employed by the Department of the Army as a civil servant, specializing in
contingency planning, emergency operations and mobilization training.
He is survived by a niece, Dale Carpenter, of Mays Landing.
George has asked that you remember him in life, not in death, and therefore has requested
no funeral or service. He will be cremated and his ashes scattered after donating his organs.
Arrangements were private and under the care of THE WOOD FUNERAL HOME, Tuckerton.
